Soundside Music Festival in Connecticut Canceled ‘Due to Circumstances Beyond Our Control’

The Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut, scheduled to take place in late September with headliners like the Killers, Hozier, and Vampire Weekend, has been canceled.

On Friday, the fest’s website updated with a note from organizers that read, “Due to circumstances beyond our control, Soundside Music Festival has been cancelled. Tickets will be refunded to the original method of payment in as little as 30 days depending on your bank’s processing time.”

The festival’s social media pages were also deleted, suggesting that Soundside might be canceled permanently.

According to CT Insider, a local government official said that the cancellation was likely due to low ticket sales. “It’s our understanding that this year’s line-up was drawing a lot fewer attendees than we have seen in the last few years,” Thomas Gaudett said. “And that may have had an impact on the decision to cancel.”

Weezer, Djo, Japanese Breakfast, the Last Dinner Party, Inhaler, Alex Warren, Remi Wolf and more were also booked to play the Bridgeport fest, which was in its second year.

Soundside Music Festival launched in 2024 as a rebranding of the Sound On Sound festival — which was founded in 2020 — with a new promoter, C3 Presents, which helms festivals such as Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, and Governors Ball. Its inaugural fest last year welcomed performances from Noah Kahan, Goo Goo Dolls, Fleet Floxes, Boyz II Men, Bleachers, Norah Jones, Teddy Swims, and more.

However, Soundside 2024 did hit a snag when a headlining performance from Foo Fighters on the final night of the weekend event was abruptly canceled.  The band were quickly replaced by Jack White and Greta Van Fleet.
