Margo Price Keeps the ‘Bastards’ at Bay on Rolling Stone’s New Podcast ‘Nashville Now’

The rebellious songwriter previews her new album Hard Headed Woman in the debut episode of Nashville Now, the RS podcast about all things country music

Rolling Stone debuts its new podcast Nashville Now, a weekly audio and video production recorded in Nashville that dissects all things country: from the latest news and must-hear songs to the cultural and political issues that are defining the genre today.

The first episode looks at Willie Nelson’s subtle but clear message of support for immigrants this summer: The country music legend has been showing his 1986 music video for “Living in the Promiseland,” a clip structured around images of immigrants arriving in the U.S., before his headlining performance on the Outlaw Music Festival tour.

Nashville Now’s debut episode also features an interview with Margo Price, who will release her new album, Hard Headed Woman, on Aug. 29. Price, a Nashville firebrand, talks about the LP’s return to a more country sound, her own relationship with Nelson and the late Kris Kristofferson, singing with Tyler Childers and Jesse Welles on her new album, and a not-quite-hidden tattoo she recently got. (Like her latest single, it reads, “Don’t let the bastards get you down.”)

In a regular segment, Nashville Now also shouts out the must-hear songs of the week, including Price’s “Don’t Let the Bastards Get You Down,” Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton’s collab “A Song to Sing,” Kaitlin Butts’ “You Ain’t Gotta Die (To Be Dead to Me),” Dasha’s “Oh, Anna!” and Tyler Childers’ “Eatin’ Big Time.”

New episodes of Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now, hosted by senior music editor Joseph Hudak, can be heard every Wednesday, wherever you get your podcasts. Country is here…Nashville is now.
