Jamie xx relives “wild and beautiful” times on magical new single ‘Dream Night’

Jamie xx has released a magical new single called ‘Dream Night’, listen to it below.

Following the release of his 2024 album ‘In Waves’, which was his first in 9 years, the producer has come back with a new track.

Titled ‘Dream Night’, it’s an ethereal, slow-burn anthem which he has been playing live in his festival sets throughout the summer. Listen to ‘Dream Night’ below.

Writing about the new song in an Instagram post, the producer wrote: “Dream Night is a tune I made while touring In Waves this year. I am so lucky to have many wild and beautiful nights playing around the world to wonderful people and this song came about quite naturally, out of all the amazing nights of music and dancing that I get to experience on and off stage.

“I’m so grateful for it all and I wanted to share that and hopefully create some more dreamy moments with this song. Thank you!”

NME gave his 2024 album ‘In Waves’ four stars in a review, commending it for its pace, sound and roster of collaborations which includes Romy and Oliver Sim.

It reads: “Packed with meditative spoken-word vocals, this is an even more melancholic record than its predecessor – and a less immediately exciting one, too. But it’s arguably a more complex beast, born of a complex era yet authored by a musician with one eye on the simple, timeless pleasures of the club. With ‘In Waves’, almost a decade on from the triumph of ‘In Colour’, Jamie xx remains in bloom.”

Back in May, Jamie xx announced a 10th anniversary edition of his debut solo album ‘In Colour’.  The new reissue features the iconic cover artwork on the vinyl itself.

‘In Colour – 10 Year Anniversary Picture Disc’ is due for release on November 14 via Young. You can pre-order it here.

‘In Colour’ reached Number Three in the UK, was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, earned a nomination for Album Of The Year at the BRITs, and was up for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the Grammys.

Speaking to NME in 2015 about his attempt to achieve perfection on the LP, Jamie xx explained: “I still feel like I could do stuff to it, but I would just be driving myself insane. I need to not listen to it for a while and come back to it, and then I’ll be happy.”
