Olivia Dean Brings Seventies Glam and Modern Romance to ‘Fallon’ With ‘Nice to Each Other’

The single appears on the British musician’s upcoming studio album The Art of Loving, out September 26

Olivia Dean delivered her debut performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with the persuasive, no-strings-attached single “Nice to Each Other.”

Accompanied by her band and a breezy wind machine, the British musician brought Seventies glam to the stage with modern romance. “Meet me on the mountaintop/I’ll be in the shallow end/And wait for you to call it off/’Cause I don’t want a boyfriend,” Dean sings. “But we could be nice to each other/Nice to each other/Wrong for each other/Right for each other.”

“Nice to Each Other” will appear on The Art of Loving, the forthcoming second studio album from Dean, set for release on Sept. 26. “’Nice To Each Other’ is a song about the push and pull of exploring your independence in dating,” the singer shared in a statement earlier this year “It’s about enjoying someone in the present and allowing it to be both light and meaningful. I think this song and video represents a playfulness in me that I’m excited for people to see.”

The Art of Loving follows Dean’s debut album Messy, shared in 2023 featuring her breakthrough singles “Dive” and “The Hardest Part.” Last week, another preview of the record arrived with “Lady Lady,” a grooving single about surrendering to change. “Lady Lady is a song about the universe, mother nature and accepting and trusting in the plan that she has for you,” Dean shared. “It’s about the feeling of having to change just as you’re getting used to a version of yourself. This song reminds me of the power we hold as women, I think it feels like peace.”

In October, Dean will join Sabrina Carpenter for nine shows on the Short n’ Sweet tour making stops at arenas across North America. The musician is currently making a trek across the states on a headlining run of her own, which included a performance in Brooklyn last night and continues on Saturday, July 19 in Boston.
