Taylor Swift’s father is reportedly recovering from heart surgery

Taylor Swift‘s father is reportedly recovering from heart surgery.

Scott Swift, 73, underwent quintuple bypass surgery, which his doctor ordered after noticing something during a recent check-up, according to PEOPLE.

No specific details were given, though the procedure was not precipitated by a heart attack.

Swift, her brother Austin and Scott’s wife of 37 years, Andrea, have reportedly been supporting Scott throughout his recovery.

NME has contacted a spokesperson for Taylor Swift for further comment.

Swift’s parents have had health issues in the past, with the singer revealing in a 2019 essay for Elle that both Andrea and Scott have had cancer in the past.

The singer-songwriter first revealed that her mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 before she fought it for a second time in 2019. It led to Swift limiting the amount of shows on her ‘Lover’ tour, as a result.

Swift also wrote about her mother’s illness on Lover track, ‘Soon You’ll Get Better’, which featured backing vocals from The Chicks.

It opens with the lines, “In doctor’s office lighting, I didn’t tell you I was scared / That was the first time we were there / Holy orange bottles, each night, I pray to you / Desperate people find faith, so now I pray to Jesus too/And I say to you / Soon, you’ll get better.”

Elsewhere, bookmakers recently confirmed that Swift is one of the favourites to headline Glastonbury in 2027 along with with Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé and Rihanna.

Among the least likely are Bruce Springsteen, this year’s Other Stage headliner Charli XCX, Harry Styles and Adele.

Oasis are also 4/1 to headline, though it seems unlikely with Liam Gallagher recently saying he “hates” the Pyramid Stage as “it’s like playing to a load of jamboree teachers”.

Meanwhile, German authorities recently charged a teenager over a failed terror plot to attack a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna last August.
