Deftones have shared the new music video for their latest single, ‘my mind is a mountain’. Check it out below.
The track dropped last week, and came at the same time that the Sacramento band confirmed their first album in five years, ‘private music’. The record marks the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Ohms’, and will be released on August 22 via Reprise/Warner Records. You can pre-order/pre-save it here.
Shared as the first preview of new music on the forthcoming album, ‘my mind is a mountain’ sees frontman Chino Moreno and co. bring the energy. Blistering riffs and thunderous drum lines dominate the backdrop, while the singer’s signature vocal style introduces the passionate chorus.
Now, the band have shared the official music video for the track, which sees the members performing together in a bare room, and harnessing the intense energy that the single captures. Much of it shows them in black and white flashes, with Moreno leaning into the microphone to deliver his powerhouse vocals, while flashes of red are gradually introduced.

Last week, Deftones announced a slew of UK and European dates to accompany the record. They will kick off the tour in Paris’ Adidas Arena on January 29, before taking in Brussels, Hamburg, Munich, Lodz, Berlin, Dortmund, Stuttgart and Amsterdam.
After that, they land in the UK on February 12 with a show in Birmingham’s BP Pulse Live, followed by Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin and Cardiff. They round off the tour with a huge show at London’s The O2 on February 20.
For these shows the band will be joined by Denzel Curry and Drug Church. Tickets go on general sale at 9am on July 18 here.
Fans who order ‘private music’ from the band’s official UK/EU store will get early access to tickets.
Before the UK and European leg, Deftones will embark on their previously-announced North American tour dates in Vancouver, joined by Phantogram, IDLES and The Barbarians Of California on select dates.
As for the new music, it comes as the band have been dropping hints over the past two years. In 2023, they suggested that an upcoming full-length album was due to arrive in 2024, although this never materialised. Then, in spring 2024, they then shared another update on their new LP and said that they were adding the final touches to the recording.
Official hints came during the band’s huge headline show in London this summer, where they used their set at Crystal Palace Park to reveal the title of the upcoming album.
