Yungblud cancels Liverpool gig due to tonsillitis, but puts money behind bar for fans: “My body is letting me down this week”

Yungblud has cancelled a show in Liverpool due to tonsilitis, but has put money behind a nearby bar for fans.

The musician was due to play at the city’s Grand Central Hall on Friday night (July 11) as part of a tour supporting his recent double album ‘Idols’, but as he confirmed on his Instagram Stories, he will be unable to fulfil the show.

The same issue forced him to also postpone a show at LiveHouse in Dundee on Thursday, and he has suggested both dates will be rearranged to happen “around the arena tour next year”.

“My fucking tonsilitis still hasn’t cleared up so I’m getting steroid treatment,” he wrote. “I have plans to get the fuckers out as they’re a weak point for me but I need to find some time as obviously we’ve been non stop.”

“I’m ready to rock but my body is letting me down this week, I hate being in bed it terrifies me.”

“The doctor has asked me to postpone Liverpool even though I can still sing,” he added. “Please understand I hate letting you down. I wanna say fuck it and just do it but they said I could really do damage to my voice.”

“I love you all and I will DEFINITELY be at Bristol and Southampton next week. Adore you all forever. I cannot believe what’s happening at the minute. Beautiful.”

In a follow-up post, he said that he had “put some money behind the bar at @motel_bar” in Liverpool. Fans who have tickets for the postponed Liverpool show will be able to show their ticket at the Metrocola Bar to get a free drink.

“I’m so sad I can’t be there but at least you can be together and celebrate each other, as that’s what Yungblud is all about. Go to the bar, play the tunes and have a good time. I love you. Again, I’m truly sorry.”

The UK and Ireland arena tour will take place in April 2026, with dates in Dublin, Leeds, Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham, London and Manchester. See the full details here and tickets here. He also tours North America and Europe later this year.

He has just announced a new documentary Are You Ready, Boy?, which will follow him as he performs ‘Idols’ on stage for the first time. It will be in cinemas on August 20 and 24 and you can find tickets here.

Speaking to NME about the project, Yungblud said: “With this album, I made a conscious effort to not over explain what it was about. This film will really show people what I was going through when I was making it. It’s a hell of a film. I watched it once, approved it, but I’ll never watch it again – It’s too uncomfortable.”

Yungblud also led a supergroup on stage at Villa Park at the final Black Sabbath concert earlier this month, singing the band’s song ‘Changes’ and dedicating the performance to the late Liverpool star Diogo Jota. He was later gifted a custom-made gold cross by Ozzy Osbourne.

He is also set to open his own music venue in Soho, London later this year, to join his own festival BludFest, which had its second edition earlier this summer.
