Cast have performed their first opening set of Oasis‘ Live ’25 reunion tour – here’s what they performed.
Tonight (July 4), Cast were the first band to take the stage at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff for the first of Oasis’ mammoth reunion shows. Their set kicked off at 6pm, two hours ahead of the Gallagher Brothers’ gargantuan return to the stage for the first time in 16 years.
Prior to Cast’s set, early arrivals at the arena were notably singing along to Oasis’ ‘Live Forever’ as their recent Adidas Originals ad played on the big screen.

Cast kicked things off with ‘Sandstorm’, and said two songs in: “Alright thank you very much, Cardiff. We’re Cast.”

Later, frontman John Power honoured Liverpool star Diogo Jota, who tragically died on Thursday (July 3) at the age of 28, with ‘Walkaway’: “Dedicated to Diogo Jota. Take it easy brother.” They later launched into the 1997 hit ‘Flying’.
“It’s so good to be here on this momentous occasion,” Power added before ‘Guiding Star’. “It’s been a blast, peace and love,” he said before their final song ‘Alright’.

Speaking to NME ahead of the reunion tour, Cast’s John Power told us about find out they’d be part of the line-up back in October: “We’re blown away by it. We had the nod and were just waiting for the official announcement. Now we can bask in it. It’s a stamp of approval from our peers, and I appreciate that massively.”
On the reunion shows, Power added: “When you walk on stage, it’s about the here and now – no one’s getting nostalgic. It’s not about yesterday, these [Oasis] shows are going to be about 2025 and creating the myth of tomorrow. Hopefully 20 years from now, people will be talking about this tour like they talk about the legend of Knebworth or whatever.”
Power had also been in touch with Liam and Noel Gallagher ahead of being announced for the line-up. “I spoke to Liam before the announcement and there have been messages with Noel,” he told NME in October. “There’s been a lot of noise going on, so I’m just looking to let the dust settle a bit. We’re all connecting, but it’s next July. I’ve just come off a tour and about to start another one while writing a new album. There’s a lot going on, but everyone is feeling the energy and excited.”
Following tonight’s show in Cardiff, Oasis, Cast and Richard Ashcroft are due to play one more gig at Principality Stadium tomorrow (July 5) before the tour heads to Heaton Park in Manchester next week – check out the list of the remaining UK and Ireland dates here, including seven dates at London’s Wembley Stadium.
