Kesha shares support for Cassie Ventura after Diddy trial verdict: “I believe you”

Keshsa has expressed her support for Cassie Ventura following the verdict for the trial of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

The rapper and music mogul was found guilty on two counts of transportation for engaging in prostitution, but innocent of racketeering and sex trafficking yesterday (Wednesday July 2). He had pleaded not guilty to all five charges levelled against him.

Singer, dancer and actor Cassie Ventura accused her ex-partner Combs of subjecting her to a decade-long “cycle of abuse, violence and sex trafficking” until their relationship ended in 2018.

Diddy was acquitted on the charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking of Venture, and sex trafficking of a woman going by the name “Jane”. However, he was found guilty of transportation for prostitution of Ventura and others, and of transportation for prostitution of “Jane” and others.

Writing on X/Twitter, Kesha shared a message of solidarity with Venture. She said: “Cassie, I believe you. I love you.”

The singer continued: “Your strength is a beacon for every survivor.” You can see the post here:

Following the verdict, Combs’ lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, argued that the hip-hop mogul should walk free after spending months in a federal jail. He also suggested that the rapper being acquitted on the most serious charges meant that he should be allowed to be released and be able to live in his Florida home on a $1million bond (£734,700).

But prosecutors have opposed this motion, accusing Agnifilo of “downplaying” the severity of the prostitution charges Combs has been convicted of. They also argued that Diddy “does pose a danger” and may “disregard” court conditions if released.

A decision on whether or not he will be released on bond has not yet been made, at the time of writing.

Kesha removed Diddy’s name from a line in her 2009 single ‘Tik Tok’ when performing the song live, in light of Ventura accusing the rapper of rape and sexual abuse.

The pop star announced last autumn that she was devising a 10-year plan to “dismantle” the music industry. This came after she settled her long-running legal battle with her former producer Dr. Luke, whom she had accused of emotional abuse and sexual assault.

In a statement announcing the settlement, the producer said: “While I appreciate Kesha again acknowledging that she cannot recount what happened that night in 2005. I am absolutely certain that nothing happened. I never drugged or assaulted her and would never do that to anyone.”

It was later confirmed that Kesha had departed Dr. Luke’s record label, Kemosabe, as well as RCA Records and Vector Management. Tomorrow (July 4) she’ll release her sixth album ‘Period’ independently through her own label, Kesha Records. It’ll follow 2023’s ‘Gag Order’, which marked her final LP on Kemosabe.

Meanwhile, Kesha has also announced a UK and European headline tour for 2026. The run of dates includes two shows at the O2 Academy Brixton in London. Find any remaining tickets here.
