Liam Gallagher on why he hates Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage: “It’s like playing to a load of jamboree teachers”

It looks like Liam Gallagher and the newly reformed Oasis won’t be headlining Glastonbury any time soon, as he’s explained to fans why he hates the festival’s Pyramid Stage.

The Worthy Farm festival kicked off earlier this week and has so far seen headline sets from The 1975 and Neil Young, as well as performances from Charli XCX, Pulp and Kneecap. See a full recap here.

One person not in on the fun, however, is Gallagher, who has been expressing his dislike of the festival’s most iconic stage on Twitter/X this morning (June 29).

When asked by a fan if he would be heading to Glasto next year, he responded: “Hope not”, prompting another fan to say: “oh cmon dont act like u dont wanna resurrect festival culture.”

Gallagher then replied: “I like the other stages and the tents but the main stage is like playing to a load of jamboree teachers.”

Then, another fan asked the frontman if that’s a bad thing, to which he quipped: “Yes it’s horrendous.”

Elaborating on his “jamboree” comment, he then said: “It’s a load of divs dressed in Ty die clothes banging clogs and blowing up balloons all with psycho smiles and crusty eyes and red wine mouths.”

They may not be heading to Glasto, but Oasis are kicking off their historic comeback tour shortly, with the first gig set for July 4 in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, before they play 19 shows in the UK and Ireland – with support acts Richard Ashcroft and Cast. Yesterday (June 28), Liam confirmed the Cardiff show’s start time.

The UK and Ireland run includes seven dates at London’s Wembley Stadium, and will be followed by gigs in Canada, the US and Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Chile and Brazil. The 2025 tour consists of 41 dates in total, ending on November 23 in São Paulo.

Earlier this week, the band teased that additional tickets to the tour could be on sale soon, with production releases being made available in the coming days.

Cage The Elephant will support in North America and Mexico, while indie favourites Ball Park Music will be opening for all five of the Australian reunion shows. Supporting acts for the band’s Asia and South American dates have yet to be announced.

With their first reunion shows now only a week away, members of the band have been spending time locked away in a rehearsal studio in London for hours at a time to prepare for the giant stadium gigs.

The Gallagher Brothers recently reunited on camera to launch a line of Adidas Originals gear, although the ad was met with some criticism. Liam once again took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the disapproval, remarking “Oasis don’t discriminate”.

In other news, Oasis have urged fans to book their places now for the ‘Live ‘25’ merchandise pop-up stores in order to avoid queues.

As for Glasto, today (June 29) will see sets from Olivia Rodrigo, The Prodigy, Turnstile, Rod Stewart and many more. Check out the full line-up and schedule here.
