Charli XCX is now sharing her movie reviews on TikTok

Charli XCX has begun sharing her film-viewing habits on TikTok, sharing her thoughts on movies by Danny Boyle, Sofia Coppola and others.

The ‘Brat’ star first shared a post earlier this month in which she talked fans through the films she had recently watched, which ranged from M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening and Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy to Pier Paolo Pasolini’s controversial Salo and Robert Bresson’s French New Wave classic Mouchette.

Charli also revealed her personal Letterboxd account where she documents all of the films she watches, and fans can now peruse her activity here.

Now, she has given fans another update on what her favourite viewing experiences have been over the last few weeks. Watch both posts below.

Among the films to get a review in the latest post are Danny Boyle’s new film 28 Years Later, the sequel to his 2002 post-apocalyptic horror 28 Days Later. Explaining that she watched it in between soundcheck and performing at Dua Lipa’s show last week, she exclaimed: “Danny Boyle is back!”

She also revealed that she recently watched Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring for the fourth time. “I feel like it feels more culturally relevant every single time I re-watch it,” she said. “When I watch this film, it feels like I’m watching a salacious gossip magazine, which I kind of think is the entire point.”

Charli also spoke about another Bresson film, 1966’s Au Hasard Balthazar, which she said made her cry, and the 1995 documentary Unzipped, which she said was “the favourite thing I’ve seen so far this month”.

That film follows fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi as he plans his fall 1994 collection and features Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell. “If you love fashion, you should watch this documentary,” Charli said. “It really showcases the way an artist goes through their creative process, it showcases the surges of inspiration, it showcases the self-doubt, the vulnerability and the triumph in the end when you really feel you’ve achieved something truly amazing.”

She also highlighted about the Soulwax documentary Part Of The Weekend Never Dies from 2008, which she said was “really good if you like watching people party”, and singled out the joys of watching people enjoying music from a time before they were filming themselves throughout.

Charli is set to headline the Other Stage at Glastonbury on Saturday night (June 28), having recently curated a day at LIDO festival in London’s Victoria Park with a line-up featuring The Japanese House, The Dare, 070 Shake, Kelly Lee Owens and A. G. Cook.

She has also teamed up with Converse to release a new ‘Party Girl’ shoe design – see more here.
