Film fans are obsessed with Stormzy’s ‘Big Man’ wig: “Legit traumatising”

Film fans have shared their dismay at the wig Stormzy wears for his new Apple short Big Man, which recently debuted on YouTube.

The legendary rapper produces and stars in the 20-minute work, which according to the official synopsis “tells the story of Tenzman, a world-weary musician, and two bright, industrious kids who come into his life by chance. Soon, the trio find themselves on a journey — one that will reinvigorate a sense of warmth, spontaneity, and optimism in the faded star, before revealing a better way forward for them all”.

Stormzy’s #Merky Films and Apple collaborated on the project, which was announced June 12. In the press release, the artist said: “I hope you love our first project, Big Man, as much as we loved making it. For me, it’s all about the joy, spirit and fearless energy of youth – that feeling like life is one big adventure and the world’s your playground”.

Big Man debuted on June 18 and at the time of writing has over five and a half million views. However, fans have been distracted by the large wig the star wears for the film.

“Where did Stormzy get that wig from?” exclaimed one user on X (formerly Twitter), while another branded it “ridiculous and unnecessary”.

One person aimed their criticism at the tech giant producers, writing: “How much money does Apple have but they can’t get Stormzy a decent wig???”

Others found it outright frightening. “Why did I have a nightmare that he was a werewolf trying to kill me and my friends? Legit traumatising, I’ll never see him the same again” they said, while another added: “Stormzy in a wig isn’t real. Stormzy in a wig can’t hurt you”.

In May, Stormzy released the single ‘Sorry Rach!’, in which he addressed criticism over working with McDonald’s and revealed, “I think I met my wife”.
