The band were headlining the Dogtooth Stage on Saturday night (June 14) when Filth told the crowd: “I want to beg a few minutes of your time. This is really fucking important, at least for me. I’m gonna embarrass my partner now. Sofiya, come out here.”
As Belousova made her way up to the stage, a cloaked figure entered from the opposite side of the stage to which Filth said, “In your own time, ring bearer.” He then showed a ring to the crowd, saying that it was “all the way from Mordor,” before he got down on one knee.
“Sofiya, love of my life, my queen. Will you….” he began. She said yes, to cheers from the crowd. Shortly after, Cradle Of Filth celebrated by playing ‘Malignant Perfection’.
In other news, Filth recently revealed that Ed Sheeran wanted to establish a new music venue in Ipswich but was refused permission by the local council.
Sheeran was apparently hoping to buy a vacant Toys R Us and turn it into a music venue, but Ipswich Borough Council prevented this from happening over noise-related concerns.
Speaking on the Kerrang! In Conversation podcast, Filth said he was baffled by the council’s decision, especially given the presence Sheeran has in Ipswich.
“I don’t understand Ipswich Borough Council at all, because my acquaintance / friend, Edward Sheeran, he told me he wanted to buy this Toys R Us,” he explained. “It’s been vacant for years and years and years, and he put in an offer for it – he wanted to turn it into a music venue. Ideal. Massive car park, like, perfect. Couldn’t be more perfect. On the biggest roundabout in Suffolk, right? The noisiest. It’s as you come into Ipswich, which is just perfect.
“And Ipswich Borough Council said it was going to cause too [much] noise. And I mean, Ed Sheeran to Ipswich Borough Council is like chalk to cheese, you know? They have such a relationship. You know, he’s on murals all around the town. He sponsors Ipswich Town’s football kit and stuff. And yet they still didn’t even give him a break on this. And he was buying the place! ‘I know we’re going to redevelop this place. It’s going to bring so many more people to the town.’ But no.”
