Justin Bieber gets candid about “anger issues” in new post: “I know I’m broken”

Justin Bieber has opened up about his “anger issues” in a new post on social media.

The Canadian pop singer got candid in a post on Instagram on Monday: “People keep telling me to heal. Don’t you think if I could have fixed myself, I would have already? I know I’m broken. I know I have anger issues.”

He continued: “I tried to do the work my whole life to be like the people who told me I needed to be fixed like them. And it just keeps making me more tired and more angry. The harder I try to grow, the more focused on myself I am.”

Bieber – who has dove deeper into his faith and Christianity over the last couple of years – concluded: “Jesus is the only person who keeps me wanting to make my life about others. Because honestly, I’m exhausted with thinking about myself lately. Aren’t you?”

The post is the latest in a string of self reflections that Bieber has uploaded in recent months, and comes amidst a tumultuous time for the singer. In April, his team dismissed reports that he is in financial distress and “more than $20million” in debt. His reps called the reports “ill-informed” and “clickbait stupidity”.

The singer also shared another message in which he said he “hates” himself when he feels that he is becoming “inauthentic”, before adding: “Then I remember we’re all being made to think we’re not enough but I still hate when I change myself to please people.”

Bieber’s post echoed with another he made earlier this year, in which he addressed his struggles with feeling like a “fraud” on social media. “People told me my whole life ‘wow Justin u deserve that’ and I personally have always felt unworthy. Like I was a fraud.”

“Like when people told me I deserve something,” he continued. “It made me feel sneaky like ‘Damn if they only knew my thoughts, how judgemental I am, how selfish I really am, they wouldn’t be saying this’. I say all this to say: If you feel sneaky, welcome to the club. I definitely feel unequipped and unqualified most days.”

Earlier in the year, the Canadian singer was seen rapping about being high, sparking concern from the public for his health and well-being. The clip came just days after a representative for the ‘Stay’ singer shut down online rumours of drug use, branding the comments as “false” and “harmful”.

In a statement shared with Rolling Stone, the spokesperson said that the public’s fixation on the artist’s health is “exhausting and pitiful and shows that despite the obvious truth, people are committed to keeping negative, salacious, harmful narratives alive.”

Bieber in May also addressed rumours that he was an alleged victim of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs via a rep: “Although Justin is not among Sean Combs’ victims, there are individuals who were genuinely harmed by him. Shifting focus away from this reality detracts from the justice these victims rightfully deserve.”

As well as comments about his health, there have also been reports that Bieber is back in the studio and planning a major comeback soon. These were heightened when he was seen in the studio at the start of the new year, and again when Mk.gee revealed that he had been working with the singer on new material.

If the studio output comes together as a full album, it will be his first studio release since 2021’s ‘Justice’.
