Cartel to Celebrate ‘Chroma’ 20th Anniversary With Re-Recording and Fall Tour

Cartel may not know how the story ends, but they sure know how it goes. The Georgia-bred band is gearing up to celebrate one of the most cherished chapters in their career: their iconic 2005 album Chroma, which became a pop-punk staple at the time. Cartel will hit various U.S. cities for a headlining tour in celebration of the album, and have also announced a re-recorded version of Chroma, set for release on September 12.

“It’s a privilege to still have the opportunity to share this with all the people who celebrate this record alongside us,” front man and lead vocalist Will Pugh said in a statement. “The whole idea was to bring Chroma into a modern place sonically and reconcile the live versions of these songs with what is on record,” Pugh said about the re-recording. “Our hope is that current fans will rock out harder and that new fans will be able to discover these songs in a modern context,” he added.

The new version of Chroma will feature re-recorded hit singles “Honestly” and “Say Anything (Else).” As for entirely new offerings, Hey Monday’s Cassadee Pope is a guest vocalist on the new rendition of “Q&A,” which closes out the album.

“Thinking about having done this for over half of our lives sort of breaks the space-time continuum,” Pugh said, reflecting on the band’s 20 plus years. “It’s so cool, because it constantly feels like being rebirthed every time you hear the records.”

Before the band embarks on Chroma‘s 20th anniversary, they will be returning to the Warped Tour stage to celebrate the festival’s 30th anniversary at the Washington, D.C. and Long Beach, Calif. stops.
