Working Men’s Club have revealed they will be opening for LCD Soundsystem at two of their upcoming London shows – see all the info below.
It is the first sign of activity from the Yorkshire band since 2023, when they wrapped up the tour supporting their second studio album ‘Fear Fear’, including a string of festival shows that took in Glastonbury and Down The Rabbit Hole.
On Friday (April 25), however, the band made the announcement on social media that they will be supporting James Murphy and co. at four of their O2 Academy Brixton shows – on June 19, 20, 21 and 22.
There will be four further shows in the LCD Soundsystem residency at the iconic venue, taking place on June 12, 13, 14 and 15. Find any remaining tickets for any of the eight performances here.
‘Fear Fear’, the follow-up to the band’s self-titled debut album, received four stars from NME in 2022, who noted: “Sure, it’s a dizzying landscape, but the chaotic palette does justice to the devastation and confusion faced in recent years. Working Men’s Club certainly wear the trauma well, but this riveting exploration truly thrives by seeking the light beyond the gloom.”
Working Men’s Club frontman Sydney Minsky-Sargeant, meanwhile, has started up the supergroup Demise Of Love alongside producer Daniel Avery and James Greenwood, aka Ghost Culture. Their self-titled EP arrives on May 30 via Domino.
LCD Soundsystem, meanwhile, are currently working on a follow-up to 2017’s ‘American Dream’. New single ‘X-Ray Eyes’ was released last November with the group’s fifth album due out at some point this year.
LCD Soundsystem previously took over O2 Academy Brixton for a six-night residency in 2022. They also headlined All Point’s East Festival in 2024 following a triumphant Pyramid Stage performance at Glastonbury. The band ended the year with a celebrated New York ‘Winter Function’ residency and they still have a few dates left on their current US headline tour, alongside a handful of European festival appearances including Primavera Sound in Barcelona and We Love Green in Paris.
That US tour has received an extension and will now run through August, while they will play a special pair of joint-headline shows with Pulp at the Hollywood Bowl in September.
