Zedd Invites John Mayer, Maren Morris, More Onstage During Coachella Set

Bea Miller, Julia Michaels, and Elley Duhé also joined the German DJ during the high-energy set

Zedd brought his friends with him to the desert. On Sunday night, the German DJ welcomed Maren Morris, John Mayer, Elley Duhé, and Bea Miller for performances at the Outdoor Theatre.

Mayer was the biggest surprise as he hit the stage to perform several tracks, including “New Light” and “Stop This Train” as Zedd stepped away from the DJ booth to play the drums. Bea Miller also played “Out of Time” and Tangerine Rays,” which opened the DJ’s 2024 LP Telos.

Elley Duhé later came on to play “Happy Now,” while Maren Morris wowed the crowd for “The Middle.” Rolling Stone reported earlier this week that the country star would be making an appearance. “Zedd has got a lot up his sleeve for this year’s Coachella,” the source previewed. “He is the king of the special guests.”

Morris has been a special guest several times this weekend, joining Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic for a rendition of “My Church,” backed by a gospel choir. She also headlined a White Claw event in Palm Springs, performing all of her hits at the Saguaro Palm Springs.

Morris is set to release her album Dreamsicle on May 9, just a few weeks after the performance. (The pair also collaborated in 2022 for “Make You Say” with Beauz.) Zedd’s album Telos dropped last year, featuring collabs with Mayer, Muse, and Jeff Buckley. “His long-overdue third album, Telos, similarly builds on his EDM foundation but aims to construct a more expansive sonic playground for himself,” read a Rolling Stone review of the record.

Last time Zedd was in the desert in 2019, he brought out Katy Perry for “365,” and Morris joined during the fest’s second weekend. During his 2016 appearance, the DJ brought out Kesha for “True Colors.”
