50 Cent Helped Make a New Netflix Doc About His Longtime Nemesis Sean Combs

One of Sean Combs’ longtime foes, 50 Cent, has executive produced a new four-part documentary about the imprisoned music mogul, which is set to arrive early next month.

Sean Combs: The Reckoning will premiere on Netflix, Dec. 2, with four 60-minute episodes. Directed by Alexandria Stapleton, the project will reportedly dig into Combs’ life and career, his myriad successes in the music industry, the underbelly of his ambition, and how abuse allegations leveled by his ex, Cassie, led to a wave of accusations and a criminal trial that landed Combs in prison.

“You can’t continue to keep hurting people, and nothing ever happens,” an unidentified person says in the short, but dramatic teaser for The Reckoning

For the film, Stapleton features never-before-seen material and new interviews with some of Combs’ former associates, childhood friends, artists, and employees, per a press release. In a statement, Stapleton said the documentary wasn’t just about Combs, Cassie, “any of the victims, or the allegations against him, or the trial.”

She continued: “Ultimately, this story is a mirror [reflecting us] as the public, and what we are saying when we put our celebrities on such a high pedestal. I hope [this documentary] is a wake-up call for how we idolize people, and to understand that everybody is a human being.”

50 Cent — who’s feuded with Combs over a variety of things, dating back to the mid-2000s — added, “I’m grateful to everyone who came forward and trusted us with their stories, and proud to have Alexandria Stapleton as the director on the project to bring this important story to the screen.”

Combs is currently serving a four-year and two-month prison sentence after being convicted on two prostitution charges tied to claims he transported his ex-girlfriends and male escorts across state lines for commercial sex. He was acquitted on the more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges, and is currently appealing his conviction and prison sentence.

According to reports, Combs and his allies have been looking into the possibility of securing a pardon from President Donald Trump. Even before the verdict in Combs’ case came in, his team was maneuvering to woo Trump, prompting 50 Cent to pledge that he would do everything he could to prevent a pardon.
