As well as announcing the huge new tour dates for next year, today (Thursday October 23) also sees the band share another new preview of their forthcoming album – a new single called ‘Telephone Busy’.
It follows on from their other recent release, ‘Boyband’. In keeping with the theme of the album as a whole, it will see them capture a more playful, experimental sound than fans may be used to, and push the horizons of their sound.
Tune in to the new song below.
Earlier this month, 5 Seconds Of Summer also shared the official video for their lead single ‘NOT OK’. This was directed by Hannah Lux Davis (Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne), and was the first song of their highly anticipated sixth album.
The record will mark their first new music since 2022.
Since then, Luke Hemmings embarked on a solo tour, which saw him perform across the UK, Europe and North America in 2024, and guitarist Michael Clifford has released his debut single, ‘Cool’.
That made the latter the third member of the band to release solo material, following drummer Ashton Irwin’s 2020 record ‘Superbloom’ and Hemmings’ 2021 album ‘When Facing The Things We Turn Away From’.
5SOS also spoke to NME in 2022, where they discussed being named NME‘s Worst Band In The World three times.
“Y’all called us the worst band and that affects a guy,” Irwin laughed. “That guy at 28 doesn’t give a fuck and I actually think it’s awesome. But when you’re 17 and 18 you go, ‘I’m in the worst band? What?’ and it’s like what do you mean? What does that mean to me? What did I do wrong?
“But that’s just a relative example of how things can be said about the character of the band, really do affect the stability of the whole thing.”
