4 Non Blondes Ignite ‘Rockin’ Eve’ With Cathartic Anthem ‘What’s Up?’

4 Non Blondes took over the stage during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest and delivered the most potent performance of the night so far.

Wearing her signature towering hat, lead singer Linda Perry and her band captivated the crowd with their soaring performance of “What’s Up?” — the massively popular track from their first and only album, 1992’s Bigger, Better, Faster, More! (Interesting, the song had a recent resurgence thanks to a DJ Auxlord remix using Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap.”)

Perry bellowed out the chorus — “So I wake in the morning and I step outside/And I take a deep breath and I get real high/And I scream from the top of my lungs, ‘What’s going on?’” — with the same intensity and spirit she brought more than three decades ago.

This lineup for this years’ Rockin’ Eve includes Mariah Carey, Chappell Roan, 50 Cent, Ciara, 4 Non Blondes, Jessie Murph, Pitbull, Zara Larsson, Madison Beer, the singing voices of KPop Demon Hunters, Lil Jon, Charlie Puth, and Little Big Town.

Earlier this month, 4 Non Blondes announced that they will release a follow-up to Bigger, Better, Faster, More! The news arrived 33 years after the record’s debut, with label Kill Rock Stars confirming it had inked a deal with Perry’s 670 Records imprint to rollout a pair of LPs in 2026: Linda Perry’s solo album Let It Die Here (which shares its name with her documentary directed by Don Hardy), and 4 Non Blondes’ still-untitled second album.

Last year, Perry reunited the 4 Non Blondes for a series of concerts, the band’s first gigs in over a decade. “Playing some songs with 4 Non Blondes just seemed like a fun thing to do, in a way it hadn’t before now,” Perry previously said of the reunion in a statement for their upcoming album. “I’ve been behind the scenes for far too long. I want to step out to be the artist I am. I’m just open to all the possibilities that I’ve created around me. I manifest things all the time.”
