3 Doors Down frontman diagnosed with stage four cancer

3 Doors Down frontman Brad Arnold has revealed that he has stage four cancer.

Arnold – singer on 3 Doors Down hits like ‘Kryptonite’ and ‘Here Without You’ – took to social media on Wednesday (May 7) to share the news with his fans. “I hope you’re having a great day today. I’ve got some not-so-good news for you today,” he began.

“I’ve been sick [since] a couple of weeks ago and went to the hospital and got it checked out. Actually got the diagnosis that I’ve got clear cell renal carcinoma that had metastasised into my lung and it’s stage four; that’s not real good…”

“But you know what? We serve a mighty God, and he can overcome anything. So I have no fear,” he continued. “I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all.” Arnold went on to confirm that 3 Doors Down will have to cancel their upcoming tour this summer and apologised to fans.

The North American tour was due to kick off on May 16 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Clear cell renal carcinoma is a form of kidney cancer, and according to the National Cancer Institute, is the most common type of kidney cancer. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the survival rate for patients diagnosed at stage four is around 10 per cent.

Following Brad Arnold’s post, several musicians have shared their support for the musician. Creed‘s Scott Stapp wrote on Brad’s post: “If anyone has the FAITH and STRENGTH to face this fight, it’s YOU brother. You and your family are in my prayers daily…”

Chris Daughtry wrote, “send you love my brother,” along with other messages of support from Three Days Grace’s Adam Gontier, Shinedown, Rob Halford, Jason Aldean, and Creed’s Michael Tremonti.

3 Doors Down was formed in 1996 by Arnold and former guitarist Matt Roberts – the latter of whom died in 2016. The band’s last album was 2016’s ‘Us and The Night’, while their last single was 2020’s one-off track ‘Wicked Man’.
