Third Man Records and 4AD announce Christmas record fair in London

4AD and Third Man Records are among the labels set to be involved in an independent Christmas record fair in London next month.

As revealed in a post on 4AD’s X account on Thursday (November 28), the event will take place on December 8 at the Omeara venue in central London.

The fair will run from 12pm to 6pm and entry is free, while attendees are promised live music, live DJs, rare vinyl and drinks, with a host of independent labels and shops hosting their own stalls.

As well as 4AD and Third Man, Chess Club Records, Speedy Wunderground, Erased Tapes, Partisan Records, So Young Records, Drag City, State51 and Sonic Cathedral are all slated to be involved in the fair.

Record shops including Rough Trade Records, Dash The Henge and Honest Jon’s are also advertised, as is jewellery store Tatty Devine and the lifestyle brands Arkive and Unified Goods.

Third Man Records was founded by Jack White, alongside Ben Blackwell and Ben Swank, in 2001, and currently has three locations – Nashville, Detroit and London.

In July, lucky customers are the three branches were the first to hear White’s latest solo album ‘No Name’, after copies of the unannounced release were slipped into their bags at checkout.

The album received a wider physical release in August. It scored a four-star review from NME‘s Andrew Trendell, who wrote: “This is an ode to the mystique of rock’n’roll and to the joy of music at its most physical and playful. Teasing doesn’t always lead to satisfaction. Just cut to the chase – and this one’s a bone-rattling ride. White’s revelling in the real world and has made it a much more thrilling place.”

4AD, meanwhile, was founded back in 1980 by Ivo Watts-Russell and Peter Kent and rose to prominence in the ‘80s as the home to artists such as Cocteau Twins, Bauhaus and Pixies, as well as Watts-Russell’s own project This Mortal Coil.
