This past weekend (September 29), the band took to social media to announce the last-minute postponement of their Cardiff concert after a member fell ill. Now, The Last Dinner Party have entirely cancelled four more upcoming concerts.

As such, the band’s shows in Birmingham, Nottingham, Bristol and Southampton have been scrapped, with the band announcing that refunds will be issued within 15 days.

They wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “This is due to an unforeseen illness in the band and, following medical advice, we have to prioritise our health at this time.” They continued, “TLDP is here today because of you and we want to keep touring and sharing our music with you for a long long time – but in order to do that we have to make serious decisions like these now so that our long term health doesn’t suffer.”

The Last Dinner Party’s sold-out UK and Ireland headline tour is set to continue in Dublin on Monday (October 7). The tour is in support of their 2024 Mercury Prize-nominated debut album ‘Prelude To Ecstasy’.

The Last Dinner Party’s remaining UK and Ireland tour dates for 2024 are:

OCTOBER
7 – 3Olympia, Dublin

10 – O2 Academy, Glasgow
11 – O2 Victoria Warehouse, Manchester
12 – Mountford Hall, Liverpool
14 – Corn Exchange, Cambridge
16 – Eventim Apollo, London

The band were due to play The Engine Shed in Lincoln on Saturday (September 28), but the show was cancelled shortly before they were supposed to take to the stage due to illness. However, prior to the show’s cancellation, numerous men took to social media to complain that upon trying to enter the venue, they had been questioned extensively by The Engine Shed’s staff over their knowledge of the band.

The Engine Shed responded to the reports on Sunday (September 29), saying that a change to security measures was carried out “after information was provided to our security team about incidents at previous The Last Dinner Party gigs.” The venue apologised to those affected and said they had carried out an independent investigation into the incident.

The Last Dinner Party have since issued a statement on the matter, saying “those policies were created and enforced by the venue at their own discretion, and were not made in consultation with us”, apologising to fans and writing that they welcome anyone and everyone at their shows.

In other news, the band recently spoke to NME at the 2024 Mercury Prize, and recalled how they managed to build a “sense of community” with their fans. “A lot of people seem to connect with the themes of the album,” bassist Georgia Davies said when asked what they’re most proud of. “There are kids who were ostracised in school for their sexuality or the way that they presented [themselves] with their appearance or the music they were into. They now feel like they’ve found a sense of community in us.”
