Olivia Rodrigo and Her Clones Trash Houses and Bust Windows in ‘Get Him Back!’ Video

The new Rolling Stone cover star has shared her third Guts visual, following “Vampire” and “Bad Idea Right?”

Olivia Rodrigo’s Rolling Stone cover story isn’t the only reason today rules: The singer-songwriter has also dropped a new video for her Guts track “Get Him Back!”

Directed by Jack Begert, the video finds Rodrigo casually wreaking havoc wherever she goes, whether trashing a house or causing a wild traffic jam, as she cheerily sings about wanting to win back a bad-but-good ex both because she wants him, and because she wants to make his life miserable. The visual ups the chaos with multiple Rodrigos clones who throw knives, blow out car windows, and sing along with the delirious Guts track.

“Get Him Back!” is the third Guts song Rodrigo has released a video for, following the album’s early singles, “Vampire” and “Bad Idea Right?” (She also released a live performance video for “All-American Bitch.”) Rodrigo released Guts last Friday, Sept. 8, marking her second album and the follow-up to her smash 2021 debut, Sour

In her new Rolling Stone cover story, Rodrigo spoke in depth about the work that went into avoiding a sophomore slump with Guts, and how she tried to build on what she achieved with Sour, while also creating something totally different. “Get Him Back!” — packed with sly one-liners and shrewd barbs — definitely embodies a few characteristics that were particularly important for Rodrigo.

“Our goal was to make something a little more playful, a record that didn’t take itself so seriously,” she said. “The last album was definitely a breakup record, much to my chagrin. I was really trying to make it not that, but that’s what it was. I’m feeling a lot happier these days. Everything’s pretty good. So I wasn’t going to make something super devastating, a record of ballads.”
