Last night (February 3), the former Smiths frontman took to social media to announce his latest trek, which will see him hit the road across the United States between April and May.

The announcement comes shortly after a short stint of Los Angeles gigs to end off 2024. Prior to that, he also embarked on a sold-out tour of North America in late October and November.

Over the course of his upcoming trek, Morrissey will perform in places like San Diego, San Antonio, St. Louis, Atlanta, St. Petersburg and more. Venue pre-sales will kick off later today (February 4) at 12pm local time, while Live Nation pre-sales go live on Thursday (February 6) at 12pm local time.

Last week, Morrissey paid tribute to Marianne Faithfull following her death. Drawing reference to her 1965 hit ‘Come And Stay With Me’ which he said was “my very first purchased disc”, the ex-Smiths frontman wrote: “Marianne Faithfull, RIP. This is the evening of the day … my very first purchased disc.

“‘Come And Stay With Me’ … years later, sitting on her bed in Brussels … hearing her version of ‘Dear God, Please Help Me’ … she said ‘Lou Reed told me to cover it’ … her music brought us all closer … the girl to whom everything happened.”

In November, Morrissey decried how a war on “free speech” has prevented him from releasing any new music, seemingly alluding to ‘Bonfire Of The Teenagers’, an album he recorded in 2021 and which remains unreleased.

In a rare recent interview, he described the album as “the modern version of ‘The Queen Is Dead’, adding: “The fact that no label will release it is an indication of how childlike and frightened the music industry has become.”

Morrissey also reportedly fired his management team after Johnny Marr refuted several of Morrissey’s claims regarding The Smiths. In August, Morrissey had claimed that Marr had “ignored” a lucrative offer from AEG Entertainment Group to reunite the band. He then alleged that a Smiths ‘Greatest Hits’ album had been “blocked” by the guitarist.

Shortly after, Morrissey claimed that Marr now owns all of the “trademark rights and Intellectual Property” of The Smiths, and can tour as a band without him.
