Jennifer Hudson Hit in the Face With Rogue Basketball at New York Knicks Game

Jennifer Hudson inadvertently became part of the action at a New York Knicks game Tuesday (March 4), with the vocalist taking a basketball to the face in a moment that’s going viral on social media.

In a clip from the team’s match against the Golden State Warriors at Madison Square Garden, Hudson sits courtside with Common. Suddenly, a rogue ball comes flying and hits her in the head — knocking off her glasses as the “Go!” artist attempts in vain to shield his partner — while point guard Miles McBride comes crashing into her seat.

In the aftermath, the bewildered Dreamgirls star shakes her head and appears to say, “Wow,” as McBride checks to see if she’s OK. Common pulls her in for a comforting hug and Hudson readjusts her glasses, which the scuffle had knocked awry seconds before.

Billboard has reached out to Hudson’s reps for comment.

The “Spotlight” artist and Common’s momentarily interrupted date night comes over a year after they first confirmed their romance on the former’s Jennifer Hudson Show, which was recently renewed for a fourth season. In January 2024, the rapper served as a guest on the talk program and said as Hudson blushed, “I am in a relationship with one of the most beautiful people that I ever met in life.”

“She’s smart, she loves God, she has something real down to earth about her,” he added at the time. “She’s talented but I set my standard kind of high because she had to have an EGOT, she had to win an Oscar on her first movie, she had to get her own talk show.
