DIIV share hook-laden single ‘Dare Me’ and announce massive 2027 world tour

DIIV have shared their new single ‘Dare Me’ and announced an extensive 2027 world tour, including six shows in the UK and Ireland – check out the dates and listen below.

The Los Angeles shoegaze band released the track as the final preview of their fifth studio album ‘ZIRP!’, which was released today (October 30) via Fantasy Recordings. Order your copy here.

‘Dare Me’ follows the previous singles ‘Trillions’, ‘Kid’ and ‘The Fountain’, and sees the band channelling their trademark hazy guitar tones into what frontman Zachary Cole Smith has described as a song about the hope of building a new world amid societal collapse.

It is accompanied by a music video directed by Louie Kovatch, which you can check out here:

The band have also announced a sprawling 2027 world tour, which will begin at Sydney’s Laneway Festival on February 12 before visiting New Zealand and Japan. An extensive North American run will follow in April and May, including concerts in Chicago, Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle and San Diego.

DIIV will then head to Europe, performing at festivals including Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Best Kept Secret in the Netherlands, before concluding the tour with six UK and Ireland dates in June.

These include shows at Manchester’s Albert Hall on June 25, Glasgow’s QMU on June 26 and London’s Troxy on June 30, alongside performances in Brighton, Dublin and Bristol. Tickets for the UK shows went on general sale at 10am today (October 30) – find tickets here.

The tour comes in support of ‘ZIRP!’, which was produced by A. G. Cook, known for his work with Charli XCX and Caroline Polachek.

In NME‘s four-star review of ‘ZIRP!’, Joe Goggins wrote: “It’s thrilling to hear DIIV put their money where their mouth is like this; to watch as they make their biggest ever sonic shift at the same time as writing their most avowedly political record.”

“Crucially, ‘ZIRP!’ is not a nihilistic album; scratch far enough beneath the surface and you’ll find Smith offering up solutions to our late-capitalist hellscape, ones rooted in community and togetherness, perhaps inspired by the experience of rebuilding his neighbourhood in Altadena after losing his home in last year’s Los Angeles wildfires. Out of that catastrophe, he and his bandmates seem to have found renewed purpose; ‘ZIRP!’ is ambitious, unflinching and, ultimately, optimistic.”
