Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja has teamed up with the producers of Life Support to create a soundtrack that will benefit Health Workers 4 Palestine.
The Life Support documentary follows a team of medics operating in Gaza over a two year period “during which – given the ban on international journalists entering the territory imposed by the Israeli government – they inadvertently serve as independent, global witnesses to the realities of a systemic genocide,” reads a press release.
Life Support is directed by Daniele Rugo and is narrated by Andor star Denise Gough. The documentary was released in UK cinemas in June and is currently available to stream via Apple TV, Curzon, Prime Video and YouTube.
Earlier today (Wednesday October 28) Life Support’s accompanying soundtrack was released on streaming and a charity vinyl was made available to pre–order.
The Life Support album was curated by Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja and features music from Kneecap, Paul Weller and more. All proceeds from the vinyl will be donated to Health Workers 4 Palestine who are a “global grassroots movement of health workers and those who believe in the right to health, led by Palestinian voices of change, advocating for an end to the illegal apartheid regime and a free Palestine.”
“Given the magnitude and rawness of Life Support, it was humbling to be asked to compose work that could in some way enhance a second–hand experience of living the devastating realities for volunteer medics and Gazan civilians,” said Del Naja in a statement. “We hope the range of compositions go some way to travelling the emotional quagmire – but also elevating the astounding human spirit and resilience displayed by the subjects of this film.”
“The music composed for Life Support strikes a very difficult balance: it honours words and images without overpowering them, whilst adding real emotional depth that makes the film land even harder,” added Rugo.

Last month, Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja was arrested for a second time over his support for Palestine Action. He was outside the Labour Party Conference with a paper sign reading: “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.”
Massive Attack have been outspoken in support of Palestinians for decades and have boycotted performing in Israel since 1999. Earlier this summer, the band said their entire touring party had been detained in Singapore after Del Naja and Grant Marshall displayed a Palestinian flag on stage. Two members were subsequently banned from re-entering the country. They have also backed the No Music For Genocide campaign alongside Fontaines D.C., Amyl & The Sniffers and hundreds of other artists.
Meanwhile Kneecap joined Macklemore onstage during the first of three charity gigs with fans encouraged to donate to humanitarian relief charities, which work to provide medical aid, medical care, education and advocacy for the people in Palestine. These include Medical Aid for Palestinians, the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, UNRWA USA, Anera, and Jewish Voice for Peace.
