In a new TikTok, the singer told fans about a difficult period that caused her to stop releasing music.

The clip showed her sipping a drink while a remix of her iconic 2009 hit ‘Bulletproof’ plays.

“You think you can hurt me?,” she wrote. “I literally wrote and sung this song, lost my voice, had a nervous breakdown and disappeared for 10 years.”

It comes after the release of her single ‘Lose Myself’, which sees her open up about her auADHD diagnosis and addictions. The track comes from her upcoming fourth studio album, ‘Old Flames’, which will be released on November 6 via Vertigo Records. She’s also shared the singles Babyline’ and ‘Cabin Fever’.

‘Old Flames’ is the long-awaited follow-up to 2020’s ‘Supervision’. The forthcoming album finds Jackson facing the collapse of a 17-year relationship head-on, and tackling themes of forbidden love, loneliness “that comes with addiction, and the struggle to reconcile sexuality and identity when in the public eye”.

Within the lyrics on the LP, the synth-pop star references everything from David Lynch to Donnie Darko while “capturing a sound that is both immersive and nostalgic, while also forward-facing”.

“This record says things how they are: how I am and who I am. It’s been a process of admitting what I got wrong through telling these tales and coming to terms with where I am now,” Jackson explained previously.

“’Old Flames’ is essentially me processing why I’ve behaved the way that I have and saying goodbye to it. It’s a farewell to that way of behaving in love and life. And in music too.”
