David Byrne’s Night tribute – featuring members of English Teacher, The Pogues and more – announce 2027 UK tour

David Byrne’s Night – a Talking Heads/Robert Burns tribute act – has announced plans for a 2027 UK tour, and it will include members of English Teacher, The Pogues and more.

The shows come as a celebration of two Scottish icons, Robert Burns and David Byrne, and started with a one-off show at Hackney’s MOTH Club in 2023, founded by Dundee native Lola Stephen.

It sees musicians across the indie, punk, and experimental scenes come together to form a supergroup, and together they play hit tracks from across Talking Heads and David Byrne’s solo discography. The performances are also interspersed with Robert Burns poetry recitals.

Now, new UK tour dates have been confirmed for 2027 and shows kick off at New Century Hall in Manchester on January 15.

Further dates include slots in Leeds, Brighton, London and Glasgow throughout the rest of the month, and dates follow on from a sold-out 4-date tour earlier this year – including a slot at London’s KOKO – as well as festival appearances at Green Man, Wide Awake, All Together Now, and Latitude.

For the 2027 tour, confirmed members for the show at London’s Troxy – their biggest show yet – include members of English Teacher, The Pogues, The Horrors, Man/Woman/Chainsaw, Goat Girl, Imogen and the Knife, Orchestra (for now), 1000 rabbits and Ebbb.

Other artists playing across the shows include VLURE, Tooth, Hank, The Ninth Wave, Hutch, Bathing Suits, Butch Kassidy, thistle, YAANG and more.

The live shows coincide with the 50th anniversary of Talking Heads first album ‘Talking Heads ‘77’.

As for David Byrne himself, it was recently revealed that the singer has written a song for a “scathing” new Elon Musk documentary, and the lyrics are formed fully of the billionaire’s quotes.

His ‘Who Is The Sky?’ solo tour is coming to cinemas too, with the hometown concerts being shot on 70mm film by director Brady Corbet, and he will also be going on an intimate book tour in the UK to support his forthcoming book Sleeping Beauties – find all of the info here.

NME reviewed Byrne’s performance at this year’s Mad Cool festival in Madrid, writing that it came as a reminder that “you can always rely on David Byrne to make sense of the madness.”

Since then, he has joined Anna Calvi on stage in Halifax and Cardiff for performances of their collaborative track ‘Strange Weather’.
