Phil King Joins Dunedin Venues Management as CEO

SYDNEY, Australia — Ex-Ticketmaster Australia managing director Phil King is now at the helm of Dunedin Venues Management as chief executive officer.

King had led Ticketmaster Australia, one of the big two ticketing giants in these parts, since December 2023. Prior to that, he was chief commercial officer at the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA).

According to a statement from Dunedin Venues, which operates Dunedin Centre, an historic facility made up of two main structures — the Municipal Chambers building, and the Dunedin Town Hall — and the 36,000-capacity Forsyth Barr Stadium, it was the South Island city’s “reputation as a world-class destination for major events, combined with its passionate sporting community and vibrant city atmosphere,” that made the opportunity “impossible to resist.”

In a post on LinkedIn, King remarked on his “incredible chapter” with Ticketek Australia, a division of TEG, the Sydney-based ticketing, live content and data analytics giant.

“Leading this business has been one of the true joys of my professional life. It has challenged me, shaped me, and provided immense growth as a leader,” he writes.

Looking ahead, he continues, “I am genuinely excited to watch Ticketek continue its momentum. Under the direction of Cam Hoy (CEO, TEG) and Amy Mackie (Titmuss) (managing director, ticketing at TEG), the team has done an outstanding job in a short space of time getting the business aligned, focused, and primed for the future.”

Ticketek Australia has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, the Gold Coast and Perth, and sells over 23 million tickets to more than 20,000 events each year, including concerts, theatre, musicals and festivals.

Earlier in the year, the Venue Management Association (Asia and Pacific) named Megan O’Reilly as its new president, succeeding King, who concluded his term following many years of service on the VMA board, including the past three years as president.
