Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” sizzles as the No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Songs of the Summer chart for 2026.
Meanwhile, country music takes the top three on a season-ending Songs of the Summer ranking for the first time, with “Choosin’ Texas” joined by Taylor Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You” at No. 2 and Langley’s “Be Her” at No. 3.
The 20-position Songs of the Summer running tally tracks the most popular songs based on cumulative performance on the weekly streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Billboard Hot 100 chart from Memorial Day through Labor Day (this year encompassing charts dated June 6 through Sept. 12; Songs that appeared on the 2025 Songs of the Summer chart or peaked on the Hot 100 during or before summer 2025 were ineligible to appear on this year’s Songs of the Summer ranking.)
As previously reported, “Choosin Texas” has spent 21 weeks and counting atop the Hot 100, including 11 consecutively since July 4. Amid its reign, country titles (defined as those that have hit Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart) for a week in August claimed the Hot 100’s entire top five for the first time.
2026 continues country’s climb on Songs of the Summer this decade: In both 2023 and 2024, songs in the genre wrapped at Nos. 1 and 2. Last year, Morgan Wallen finished at Nos. 2, 3 and 4, with each of the three songs from his album I’m the Problem.
Also notably, “Choosin’ Texas” marks a rare Songs of the Summer champion initially from a previous year, as it was released in October 2025. The last such No. 1? OMI’s “Cheerleader,” whose 2015 victory chant followed its May 2014 release. Still, that hit debuted on the Hot 100 in 2015; “Choosin’ Texas” debuted on the Hot 100 in 2025, making it the first season-ending Songs of the Summer No. 1 to have entered the chart in a prior year in 30 years: Los Del Rio’s classic “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)” won the 1996 Songs of the Summer race, thanks to 14 weeks atop the Hot 100, where it had debuted in September 1995.
Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You” led the Hot 100 in its first two weeks on the chart in June. At No. 2 on Songs of the Summer, she claims her highest ever season-ending rank, surpassing “Bad Blood,” featuring Kendrick Lamar (No. 3 for 2015).
Langley’s “Be Her” peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100 and, like “Choosin’ Texas,” ranked in the chart’s top 10 each week between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Ariana Grande’s “Hate That I Made You Love Me” is No. 4 on Songs of the Summer for 2026, after it debuted atop the Hot 100 in June. She boasts her highest Songs of the Summer finish since 2014, when “Problem,” featuring Iggy Azalea, was No. 3.
Drake’s “Janice STFU” ends the season at No. 5 on Songs of the Summer. It’s the only title other than “Choosin’ Texas” to have topped the weekly tally this season, as it led in the list’s first week this year, when it debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and led for two weeks total.
As for specific metrics, “Choosin’ Texas” drew the most official U.S. streams in the 2026 summer tracking period: 407 million, according to Luminate. It also sold the most downloads in that span: 124,000.
Olivia Dean’s “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” was the biggest radio hit of the summer, with 1 billion in cumulative airplay audience. It finishes at No. 8 on Songs of the Summer.
Elsewhere in the Songs of the Summer top 10 for this year: Stella Lefty’s “Boston” (No. 6), Langley and Wallen’s “I Can’t Love You Anymore” (No. 7), Dean’s “Man I Need” (No. 9) and Tame Impala and JENNIE’s “Dracula” (No. 10).
