Clairo has “11 new songs” in the bag and a new album on the way

Clairo has teased that her next album is on the way, telling fans that “11 new songs” are in the bag.

The US singer-songwriter (real name Claire Cottrill) took to Instagram this week to share an update on her fourth record, which will follow on from 2024’s ‘Charm’.

Captioning a photograph of herself, she wrote: “I have 11 songs.” Cottrill did not share any further information on her upcoming LP, but she has been dropping hints that she’s been working on new music recently.

She posted an image of herself in the studio this June, sitting in front of some keyboards and synthesisers. “It’s serious now,” she captioned that photo. The previous month, she shared a picture of “the boys working hard” in a recording space. Clairo said earlier that she herself had been “hard at work”.

Another series of photos from March includes some studio happenings, too. It features a piece of tape with the handwritten message: “Clairo 4.” This suggests that Cottrill has been working on her fourth album for much of 2026, after wrapping up her ‘Charm’ era late last year (see the posts below).

The artist has signed a new record deal with Atlantic since releasing her previous LP. She played at Coachella, Lollapalooza and All Things Go NYC last year, and opened for Sabrina Carpenter at BST Hyde Park in London.

‘Charm’ earned Clairo her first-ever Grammy nod last year, when she was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album. However, she lost out to St. Vincent‘s ‘All Born Screaming’ at the ceremony.

Her 2024 North American ‘Charm’ tour went viral thanks to a fan rap battle segment. She later played a run of headline shows across the UK and Europe.

In a four-star review of Clairo’s last album, NME wrote: “While desire might be the main focus of ‘Charm’, it’s also an ode to connection and the comfort that comes with that – whether it’s fleeting or long-lasting, with a romantic partner or just other loved ones in your life.

“‘Glory Of The Snow’, the gorgeously wintry penultimate track, pays tribute to the support of others. ‘When I cry, I wanna give you a ring,’ she shares. ‘I can breathe with you right there alone with me.’ In the end, that’s what the desire of ‘Charm’ boils down to – the yearning to see and be seen, to be with people who not only want you back but understand you and make life that little bit easier to make it through.”

The singer has since appeared on a remix of Smerz’ ‘You Got Time And I Got Money’, featured on Rostam’s album ‘American Stories’, and contributed to Ryan Beatty’s new record ‘Sweet Fortune’.
