Courtney Love has shared praise for Slayyyter after she shared a cover of Hole’s classic track ‘Violet’, saying it is “a delight”.
The American singer-songwriter dropped a cover of the ‘90s classic grunge track during a recent appearance on triple J’s Like A Version series – where the Australian radio show invites artists over to play some of their own tracks, as well as cover one song that has a personal meaning to them.
During her performance, which went live yesterday (Thursday August 20), Slayyyter broke out her newly-released single ‘Brand New Chanel$’, which follows her song ‘Beat Up Chanel$’ which dropped earlier this year.
For the cover segment, she broke out the hit single from Hole’s 1994 album ‘Live Through This’, and put her own signature spin on the song.
The cover went on to catch the eye of Hole frontwoman Courtney Love, who soon took to Instagram to share her praise for the cover and give the seal of approval to Slayyyter, real name Catherine Grace Garner.
In her post, sharing footage of the cover, Love wrote: “@slayyyter will in fact not be returning to St. Louis. She’s employed me to run the salon. Keep wiping the floors with us,” the singer added. “It’s a DELIGHT ! 💋💋💋”
Slayyyter replied to the post too, writing in the comment section: “hope we made you proud”.

The appearance on the Australian radio show comes following Slayyyter dropping her latest album ‘WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA, in March, and playing festival slots across the summer including Coachella.
NME gave her third studio album a four star review and praised it as a “new strain of brash, sleazy pop”.
“Giggling through the chaos of the past 13 tracks as psychedelic dream-pop fills in the gaps, we can’t help but give in to the cinematic peak of ‘Wor$t Girl In America’, touching us the way all good movies do,” it read.
As for Courtney Love, the alt icon recently gave an update on her new solo album — her second-ever solo album and long-awaited follow-up to 2004’s ‘America’s Sweetheart’ – and shared how she “almost died”.
Back in November, she first revealed that she had enlisted Echo & The Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant for the new album, but not the “rude” PJ Harvey. She also later shared more details of his contributions, saying he “does these incredible leads. I don’t think he’s ever played outside the Bunnymen, other than his solo stuff. Maybe I’m wrong.”
In March, Love said that the album will also feature her ex-Hole bandmate Melissa Auf Der Maur, who also spoke to NME earlier this year about the possibility of a Hole reunion, hinting that the current state of politics might have made it more likely.
