Remi Wolf has announced her third studio album ‘Mud’, saying making the record has helped her enter “a new phase of life”.
The Palo Alto singer-songwriter will release the follow-up to 2024’s ‘Big Ideas‘ on October 9 via Island Records, and the 11-track album will include the recent single ‘Twiggy’, while another new song ‘Bottle’ will arrive on Thursday (August 20). Pre-order the album here.
Speaking about the record, Wolf has said: “I feel like I’ve crossed into a new phase of life because of this album. I literally felt like I was covered in shit. And now, at the end of the album process, I feel so clean and clear. It has been a very cleansing record to make for me.”
‘Twiggy’ was released last month, shortly after Wolf debuted it during a surprise appearance in Hayley Williams’ set at Newport Folk Festival. She has described it as being “about people I’ve been with that lack both butts and emotional availability”, although she added: “Or maybe it’s just about the messiness of addiction? IDK, you decide.”

‘Mud’ emerged after an extended period of touring for Wolf that led her to reconsider what she wanted to express and how she wanted to make music. Initial sessions took place in Nashville before she relocated to Big Bear, California.
She worked with her longtime collaborator Jared Solomon, as well as Jack DeMeo, Jamie McLaughlin and Gigi Grombacher, a group she has described as a “family band”. They reconvened at New York’s Electric Lady Studios and then completed the record in Joshua Tree.
‘Mud’ follows on from Wolf’s debut album ‘Juno‘ in 2021 and ‘Big Ideas’ in 2024. NME gave the latter four stars, writing: “The intrigue in ‘Big Ideas’ is how these songs never shy away from contradictions or thorny emotions, Wolf’s experiences spun through vibrant sonic worlds. It’s a record that – while injected with a healthy dose of groovy fun – is keenly honest. And although it may be sonically sugar-coated, Wolf’s candid lyrics never are. It’s funk-fuelled catharsis.”
Discussing the making of that album, Wolf told NME: “In the year of 2022, I had six weeks at home. I just experienced so much, and was riddled with growing pains and thinking a lot, and being put in a lot of situations I’d never been put in before.”
