John Summit Cancels Remaining August Shows, Saying ‘I Need To Recharge My Battery’ Before Fall Arena Tour

John Summit announced on Monday (Aug. 17) that he’s canceling his remaining August shows, a decision that takes the producer off the lineups for four European festivals: Belgium’s Pukkelpop, Malta’s UNO Malta, the U.K.’s Creamfields and France’s Touquet Music Beach Festival.

In a message posted to Instagram Stories, Summit wrote that “after much thought i have decided to take the rest of august off of touring to rest & get ready for my upcoming arena tour. i unfortunately will not be able to make it to pukkelpop, creamfields, radio 1 malta & touquet festivals. i rarely ever do this but there is so much work to do for the tour and i need to recharge my battery a bit before this fall. thanks for understanding.”

The Illinois native’s recent tour schedule has been typically full-on, with Summit headlining Lollapalooza, playing his [UNVRS] Ibiza residency and performing a long list of festivals including Ultra Europe, Tomorrowland, Canada’s Cowboy’s Music Festival and more headlining events since summer began.

The arena tour referenced in Summit’s statement is behind his April album CTRL ESCAPE, which hit No. 9 on Billboard‘s Top Dance Albums chart, and is set to be his biggest run to date, with the 21-date North American tour beginning Oct. 1 in Champaign, Ill. Last week, Summit added a glitzy final date to the tour, with the run now closing on Dec. 12 at the 77,500-capacity Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. This show is set to be the biggest of Summit’s career thus far.

“Over the years LA has made some of the most special moments of my career,” Summit wrote of the Memorial Coliseum show when announcing it last week. “From the Palladium to the Shrine, then BMI Stadium to Kia Forum.. we knew we had to end the album tour on the highest note in Los Angeles.”

Before the CTRL ESCAPE tour starts, Summit has September dates in Bogotá, Colombia, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, plus his own Experts Only Festival in New York and a gig at Las Vegas’ LIV Nightclub.
