Becky G on Her ‘Greatest Collaboration Yet’ With Herself — and Working With Karol G & Benny Blanco

Becky G opened up about her creative relationships with Karol G and Benny Blanco in a new interview for Apple Music’s The Zane Lowe Show, released Monday (Aug. 17), just days after her new album, BARAJA BENDITA, arrived Friday (Aug. 14).

“There’s no collaborations on this album because this is my greatest collaboration yet,” she told Lowe during the program. “It’s between Rebbeca [her real name] and Becky G finally creating harmoniously together from a place of being so unapologetic, but still vulnerable — from a place of being the Patrona but still in her soft girl chula energy — and not feeling like I need to choose.”

The conversation followed a milestone weekend for the singer, who made a special appearance during Karol G’s tour stop at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., on Saturday (Aug. 15). Becky also discussed her collaboration with Blanco and Selena Gomez on “Te Olvido (La La),” a cumbia-driven single released July 31 that Billboard ranked No. 1 among the tracks on Hermoso, Blanco’s first Spanish-language album, which also arrived Friday.

“I just continue to reiterate to him how really thankful I am to have been invited to be on his album,” Becky G said of Blanco during the interview. “He’s seen me through various different seasons in my artistry and has always just been this person who, very, very early on — I remember meeting this character, this personality that I would never forget.”

The Inglewood native also reflected on her friendship with Karol G, saying it has been inspiring to watch the Colombian superstar carry “a heavy crown” as the first Latina headliner at Coachella. Becky said joining Karol onstage at the festival to perform their smash hit “MAMIII” was “extremely inspiring.” “I’m the oldest of my siblings and she’s the baby of her siblings, so I’ve noticed there’s definitely this beautiful exchange in our energy and dynamic that just feels really nice — to have somebody who’s willing to be like, ‘Here, take my hand. Let me show you.’ I’m like, ‘Oh my God, this is so cool.’”

In April, Becky G was featured in Billboard Español’s 2026 Latin Women in Music cover story and recognized with the event’s Global Impact Award.
