Usher Addresses Claims He Used a Lookalike Onstage: ‘They Can’t Clone This’

Fans speculated that the singer employed a body double for his concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey

Usher shut down rumors that he used a body double during one of his recent live shows. Fans have claimed that the singer hired a lookalike to perform in his place on his Raymond & Brown Tour with Chris Brown.

In a video posted to the tour’s official Instagram page, Usher shared his reaction to the multitude of claims that he’s employed a stunt double during a recent concert. Or even a clone. “Ya’ll are funny…clone?” he wrote. “They can’t clone this??”

He added, “How ya’ll come up with this? AI ain’t that advanced.”

The online speculation began after Usher’s Aug. 7 tour stop at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Numerous videos of his performance began to circulate online, with fans claiming that he looked different than usual. “Usher, why’d you have to play us all like that last night?” one concertgoer wrote on TikTok. “That is NOT Usher.”

Someone commented, “I’m confused. I see Usher, but then I don’t.” No one appeared to be actually suggesting that the singer scientifically cloned, but that he had hired someone to perform in his stead.
