Sam Fender & Olivia Dean’s ‘Rein Me In’ Is U.K.’s No. 1 Single for 17th Week, Now 2nd on All-Time List

Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s “Rein Me In” is up to second on the U.K. Official Singles Chart’s all-time rankings as it notches a 17th week at No. 1 on the tally dated July 17.

With its latest achievement, “Rein Me In” breaks a tie with Bryan Adams’ “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You,” which earned 16 weeks at No. 1 in 1991. Fender and Dean’s song now trails just one song in the all-time rankings: Frankie Laine’s “I Believe,” which scored 18 non-consecutive weeks in 1953.

Earlier in July, the song surpassed Wet Wet Wet’s “Love Is All Around” (1995) as the longest-running No. 1 by a British act. “Rein Me In” is also the longest-running No. 1 of the 2020s and the 21st century as a whole.

The song narrowly beats Oasis’ “Wonderwall,” which enjoyed an uptick in streams following its adoption as an unofficial anthem for England’s World Cup run, which came to an end on Wednesday (July 15) following a 2-1 defeat to Argentina. “Wonderwall” finishes the week at No. 2, matching its previous best set in 1995, with the Official Charts Company confirming it as the biggest British single to have never reached No. 1.

Another football anthem storms into the top five with Baddiel, Skinner & The Lightning Seeds’ 1996 classic “Three Lions” closing at No. 3, up 18 spots over the previous week. Shakira and Burna Boy’s “Dai Dai,” the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, reaches a new high at No. 5.

ANOTR and 54 Ultra’s collaborative dance hit “Talk to You” jumps 10 places on the previous week to finish at No. 4. Prospa and Cloonee’s “Free Your Mind” hits a new peak at No. 7.

Sienna Spiro’s “Material Lover” rises one place to No. 14, and “Great Expectation” is up 10 spots to No. 22. The singer’s Visitor LP placed at No. 9 on the Billboard 200, making her the first British female act to arrive in the top 10 with a debut since Ella Mai in 2018.
