Rosalía’s Lux Tour made its way to the Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Monday (June 29), where she surprised fans with special guest Karol G.
The Colombian artist became the latest star to join the tour’s “confessional” segment, during which notable figures are encouraged to speak candidly ahead of Rosalía performing “La Perla,” a song about a toxic ex.
“You aren’t ready for this,” the Spanish singer-songwriter told fans ahead of the grand reveal. “She has proven that with hard work, discipline and a whole lot of heart, you can break down barriers and take your music to the entire world. She is a rock star, a legend, a strong woman who believes in herself. Let’s welcome with love and thunderous applause the one and only … La Bichota!”
In the confessional, Karol G and Rosalía looked like two old friends catching up.
“I’m going to confess something to you,” the “Provenza” singer said. “It turns out I was in a relationship where that person didn’t like to celebrate their birthday with me.”
“How strange … who doesn’t like to celebrate their birthday with their partner?” Rosalía replied in awe.
Karol continued: “But the most curious part was waiting for the excuse for the following year — and the next and the next — as to why they couldn’t make it to the birthday. I’ve become an expert at this by now, so I can give you some tips.”
The singer — who will embark on her very own Tropicoqueta World Tour this July — shared that she and her ex celebrated only one of four birthdays together, then asked Rosalía: “Tell me, what’s the prayer.”
Rosalía’s Lux Tour continues its North American leg across California before wrapping Sept. 16 in Miami’s Kaseya Center.
