Drake Breaks Michael Jackson’s Hot 100 Chart Record as ‘Janice STFU’ Debuts at Number One

Drake has set several new Billboard Hot 100 chart records following the release of his three new albums, Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honour

In total, Drake placed 42 songs on the Hot 100, a new single-week record that leapfrogs Morgan Wallen’s tally of 37 songs on the chart last May. Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honour contained a combined 43 tracks, and since Billboard hasn’t released the full Hot 100 chart for the week of May 30, it’s unclear which lone song missed out (though the 42-second “Where’s Your Stuff Interlude” from Maid of Honour seems a likely contender).

Furthermore, Drake’s “Janice STFU” debuted at Number One on the Hot 100. This marked the rapper’s 14th Hot 100 chart-topper, allowing him to eke past Michael Jackson as the male solo artist with the most Number One singles in Hot 100 history.

“Janice STFU” was one of nine songs Drake placed in the Top 10 of the Hot 100, too, alongside tracks like “Ran to Atlanta” with Future and Molly Santana, “Whisper My Name,” Shebang,” and “National Treasures.” These nine tracks — all of which appear on Iceman — extended Drake’s record of total songs to crack the Top 10 of the Hot 100 to 90.

(Despite the dominant showing, not even a three-album drop from Drake was enough to fully dent the momentum of this year’s most dominant song, Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” which ceded the top spot, but held strong at Number Five.)

Complementing his Hot 100 dominance was Drake’s equally impressive — and record-setting — showing on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honour scored the top three spots on the chart, respectively, making Drake the first artist artist to occupy Numbers One, Two, and Three simultaneously. Iceman marked Drake’s 15th Number One album, bringing him level with Taylor Swift for most-ever by a solo artist. (Among all artists, the Beatles still lead with 19.)
