Trump White House Uses Drake’s ‘Iceman’ Release to Push MAGA Agenda

Trump administration continues their trend of turning pop culture moments into controversy-seeking social media posts

The White House took time out from the Iran war and raging inflation to celebrate the arrival of Drake’s Iceman with a controversy-seeking social media post.

On the official White House account, the Trump administration shared an image spoofing the Iceman cover, with a diamond-encrusted glove holding a similarly blinged-out chain with MAGA on it. “ICED OUT,” the White House wrote.

The post was the latest stab at cultural relevance by the White House, which commonly skews hit songs or artists of the moment in MAGA-leaning fashion, often to the chagrin of the musicians themselves. Late last year, the White House used Sabrina Carpenter clips to promote their ICE agenda; “This video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda,” Carpenter said when the White House utilized her “Juno” in one of their ICE videos.

In a similar video last year, the White House and the Department of Homeland Security posted a video that showed ICE agents conducting raids and arrests, using Olivia Rodrigo’s song “All-American Bitch.” Rodrigo responded on Instagram, “Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda.”

Drake, a native of Trump’s desired “51st state” Canada, has not yet commented on the White House’s post.

Trump himself appears to be unaware of Drake and the rapper’s ordeal over the past few years, including his beef with Kendrick Lamar. When asked in an interview who won the Lamar-Drake feud, Trump answered, “I don’t know.”
