Charli XCX announces ‘Conversations’ event as she gears up to drop new “rock” album

Charli XCX has announced a Conversations event in New York City, amid reports that a new album is on the way.

The ‘Brat’ pop star took to Instagram on Tuesday (April 28), revealing that she is holding an event in New York City. The picture is in the style of headed notepaper, with the print at the top reading: “New York, May 2026. Conversations.” Below, a handwritten note saying: “Would love to talk w you,” followed by a heart, and “lots of love from Charli xcx” again in print.

The image’s caption reads: “I love talking about making things and process and stuff with my friends so if you want to ask me questions about creative process / song writing / anything else that would be cute. Wanna hear what you’re making too. would love to talk with you <3,” before linking to her official website. The link leads to an “RSVP” sign-up form.

Her last studio album was 2024’s ‘Brat’, the release which became a cultural phenomenon, giving rise to “’Brat’ Summer” and confirming Charli XCX as a global superstar. Since then, she has released a soundtrack album for Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights.

Earlier this month, her team confirmed that the ‘360’ singer was finishing work on her new album, while Charli herself implied the next release would be going in a rock direction. In an interview with Vogue, she declared: “I think the dance floor is dead, so now we’re making rock music”.

Elsewhere in the piece, she also revealed that she was determined not to make ‘Brat 2.0’. “If I’d made another album that felt more dance-leaning, it would have felt really hard, really sad,” she confessed. “What’s interesting for me is to bend the possibilities of what my perspective on that could be”.

This August, she’ll return to the stage to make her headline debut at Reading & Leeds, topping the festival bill alongside Fontaines D.C., Raye, Florence + The Machine, Dave and Chase & Status. Visit here for tickets and more information.
