A new documentary chronicling the meteoric rise and turbulent journey of YoungBoy Never Broke Again has been announced, offering fans an inside look at one of rap’s most prolific modern stars.
Directed by Nico Ballesteros, creator of the 2025 Kanye West doc In Whose Name?, American YoungBoy centers on the rapper’s sold-out Make America Slime Again Tour. The newly released trailer opens with a dramatic tone, guided by a woman’s voice.
“They tried to silence him,” the voice says amid a black-and-white clip of YoungBoy Never Broke Again walking backstage at an arena. “They tried to bury him. Every scar became a story. The glow can’t be contained. It’s the takeover. The movement rises again and again. Tonight, the resurrection begins. It’s time to make America again, baby.”
From there, the clip unfolds with a rapid montage of electrifying concert footage, interspersed with candid moments from life on the road. Among the more striking visuals is a headline referencing his 2025 pardon issued by Donald Trump, a topic that’s yet to be addressed at length by either party. The latter half of the trailer highlights YoungBoy performing his 2020 track “Kacey Talk,” before concluding with the film’s title and release date.
According to the official synopsis, American YoungBoy documents the rap star’s “dynamic artistry, compelling stage presence, and widespread acclaim” of his wildly successful MASA Tour, which included 42 sold-out shows. The film will also feature “more personal moments” from YoungBoy’s tour run, including “backstage interactions, rehearsal sessions, and glimpses into his home and family life.”
The documentary arrives amid a milestone period for the rapper, who in 2025 surpassed E-40 to become the most decorated hip-hop artist in Billboard 200 history with 34 charting albums. He has since added another Billboard 200 inclusion with his latest studio album Slime Cry, which debuted at Number six on the chart in January.
