Ice-T hates ‘Resident Evil Requiem’s horrific spider boss: “Fuck that”

Ice-T has been playing the recently released Resident Evil Requiem – but isn’t a fan of the horrific ‘Giant Spider’ boss.

Requiem is the ninth mainline Resident Evil game and sees dual protagonists Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft caught up in the aftermath of the Umbrella Corporation’s experiments with the T-Virus, which turns people into brainless zombies.

The Grace levels are pure survival horror while Leon’s are much more action-orientated, with both needing to get around a variety of mutated creatures. The one that seems to have creeped out a majority of players is the Giant Spider.

“I am usually fine with spiders in video games, but that is one fucking scary spider that I am sure people with arachnophobia might legit have an actual panic attack [over],” wrote one fan on Reddit. Modders have already created an “Arachnophobia” add-on that turns the eight-legged freaks into formless blobs or Thomas The Tank Engine.

Another player who isn’t a fan of the Giant Spider is rapper Ice-T. Taking to X, he wrote: “Gamer Stuff: Resident Evil 9… FUCK that spider.” Leon actor Nick Apostolides replied saying the beast “wasn’t that big”.

Earlier this month, Ice-T said Requiem “reminded” him of the original Resident Evil game. “Has me stressed the [fuck] out [though],” he added. “You know it’s bad when you have dreams about the shit!”

Despite the giant spiders, Resident Evil Requiem has overtaken Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as the best user-reviewed game on aggregate site Metacritic.

Ahead of launch, Resident Evil Requiem developers Capcom asked fans to avoid posting spoilers so everyone could “enjoy the story and experience as much as possible.” Resident Evil 2 director Hideki Kamiya was less polite about it though.

“For your own selfish satisfaction, you’re trampling all over the feelings of users who were looking forward to it, and the feelings of the creators who poured their all into making it – a detestable act that destroys everyone’s happiness and deserves a thousand deaths,” he wrote on X. “May you be cursed to never play games again.”

In other news, Assassin’s Creed boss Jean Guesdon has officially confirmed that Ubisoft are currently working on a remake of Black Flag, following years of speculation.
